Yesterday, there was fog...In Arizona? There's only two things that are a sure thing in Arizona... Heat and Mansoons. Yep, we all know that the heat even in the winter is felt throughout. Where else can it be the middle of December and people can still wear flip flops, shorts and summerish clothing? Yup Arizona. So when I woke up yesterday to my son saying there was fog outside I was surprised. Not only was I laughing hard because of Matthew's comment "uh oh!, it's foggy, zombies!!" but it got me thinking. The rule for driving in fog is to make sure you put your lights on,right? If you don't, you run the risk of getting into an accident. I think most of us can navigate through the fog, knowing that our destination is up ahead.
As I drove through the thick fog I kept thinking about the light at the end of the tunnel idea. We know that it's a necessity to get to the end of the tunnel but sometimes, the road, it's too foggy for us to imagine getting through it. On the way through the tunnel, you might encounter others driving without their lights on who may lead you in the wrong direction. You might follow them for a little bit but soon (I hope) realize that they only appeared to know where they were going, but in fact they never did. It is human nature to want things to be easy, we will go to extremes to avoid facing, dealing and/or accepting something. Wether it's feeling lonely or accepting the reality, we tend to saturate our lives with "fillers". Fillers are those things that we use to make our lives easier. Some people use lies as a way to face the world. Others use people to avoid feeling lonely. Then there's those who live in denial. We all do it but if we put our trust in the only one that can lead us through the tunnel, the road will be much easier. See, I didn't tell you that while you were in a fog, God was there waiting for you to see him and he is the only one that can help you.
Here's an idea...Turn on your lights, trust your instincts and keep following the road to the end of the tunnel....If you encounter zombies, I give you permission to run them over and keep going!!

i really like this one.
ReplyDeletethe analogy of following someone else's lights is so true.
deep!
Being 51 I actually have to wake up in the middle of the night to pee, too much info I know but such is my life this days. So as I get up I notice a strange glow coming in through the window and to my surprise I see or rather don't see the lake. The outside lights were not visible either but I could see they were there because of their glow. It was a most beautiful sight fog all over only glowing because of the lights and since it was still dark it made a super awesome effect. I thought about taking a picture but one I don't have a good camera and two it was still too dark outside. So with that after having taking that beautiful sight for a few minutes I continued on my way and then back to bed. Funny how I woke up just to see it.
ReplyDeleteOne time back in nineteen nighty something I left for California at about four in the morning and to my surprise I got fog all the way to Quartzite, talk about looking for that light at the end of the tunnel. I drove in the fog many times in Cali so I was not afraid but it is freaky spooky when you can't see but just a few feet ahead of you. I couldn't understand how the truck drivers still passed me at regular speed and totally left me behind, no way I was following their lead.
In cases like this just like in life I rather follow my own instincts and do things at my own pace.
Wonderful post cunada. Love ya.
